When I saw my teachers bother, I was exited. His name is Mr.Gardner. He works in the army. When we were talking it was 8:40 a.m. But over there it was 8:40p.m. He is 7,000 miles away.

We should be thankful for the people that fight  for are liberty. They risk their lives for us.  Many soldiers don't get spend their Christmas with their family. We should be thankful.

This morning we got to talk to our teacher's brother “Mr. Gardner” in Baghdad,Iraq at Victory Army Base. We used Skpe to talk to him, and it took about 3 or 4 seconds for our voices to travel 7,000 miles. On Veterans Day the soldiers at the bas had lobster, but Mr Gardner had steak.  He teaches high school students to build homes when he is not on duty.

He is in charge of checking jet fuel and making sure the jet is working fine and ready to fly. When he was young and so was my teacher, my teacher was some times mean to him. Most of the time she was nice to him. I would like to send him a letter saying “ Thank you" for serving our country and Iraq. Also I would thank him for taking time out of his time to talk to us. I solute all of the soldiers in Iraq.

This morning I got to Skype my teacher's brother. We skyped him at 9:00 am and for his time it was 8:00 pm. That's an 11 hour difference! Did you know that's 7,000 miles away from here? If you ask me that's a long ways away.

He is an Air National Guard officer. I think it's cool that he's in charge of 7 people! What he does is he refuels the airplanes and so forth. Skyping with him was fun.

Skype

This morning I got the oppurttunity of a lifetime; we got to talk to my teacher's brother in the military. We got to ask him what he does in the military. I asked him how he celebrated Veterans Day. He said they had a big steak dinner. I also asked him if its hard to endure the heat in Iraq. He said the first day he was there it was a hundred thirty degrees!

Its important that we talked to him so we could learn about the military. Its also important because he is helping our country by refueling jets so they can save us. Ms. Gardner gave us a wonderful oppurtunity. I loved what she did for us. Keep it up!!!!!

It as fun talking to Mr. Gardner on Skype when he was in Iraq. We got to see where they are staying. Some of us go to ask him two questions about what he does there and stuff like that . It was cool because he was around seven thousand miles away from us. This is important because we get to talk to someone who is serving our country. There is also almost a eleven hour time change there. They were camped out at the Victory Army Base. You could see the tent behind him. He was in Baghdad in Iraq. I got to ask him a question when we saw him. This was cool talking to someone who is fighting in Iraq right now. This is important also because they will no be able to spend time with their family at Christmas instead they will be in Iraq fighting.

Skyping in Iraq

Today I had a new experience. I got to speak with someone 7,000 miles away! It was my teacher's brother, who is now in the military. About 7,000 miles away, in the middle-east, there is a place called Baghdad, Iraq. There is a war going on in Iraq right now and he's stationed in an air-force base there.

When we were talking the delay for the signal was about 3 to 4 seconds.

This Morning

This morning, Our class got to talk to Miss Gardner's brother on a website. Right now he is in Baghdad, Iraq. It was so cool, even though I did not get to ask any questions, it was really funny. We were the only class that got to talk to people in Iraq! Mr. Gardner works at Victory Army Base as an Air National Guard... He is also a Master Sergeant. There is a big time difference, there time is about a 12 hour difference. That was a really fun morning!

Now that we did one Skype type of thing, more people want to talk to us on the same website. Next we are going to talk to kids just like us, but in Oklahoma. I thought it was a good morning. We got to take a break off of morning work and enjoy talking to others in Iraq. The day was so much more enjoyable. And that was what we did this morning. :] I am sure are next Skype will be just as enjoyable and fun.
