Who am I?

I am a multi-subject, fourth-grade elementary teacher who enjoys writing, strategy boardgames, computer gaming, and horsing around with my three boys (ages 14, 12, and 5). This will be my thirteenth year at Rosedell Elementary. My first experience with teaching was undergraduate geology laboratory at Texas A&M University. There, I received the McDonald's Outstanding Teaching Award, an award given to one teaching assistant in each of the departments at the University, annually. I have also received the Outstanding Service Award while teaching at Rosedell. Other hats I wear at Rosedell are: Tech Coordinator, Search and Rescue Team Coordinator, Grade Level Leader, and SWATTEC Mentor (that is our 4th grade writing/technology initiative). Outside Rosedell, I also work as an administrative director at GOCARE, a non-profit organization that is currently working on projects in Nicaragua. For my part, I evaluate and offer support to our three schools: a preschool established in the village of Pantanal; an adult school for English instruction; and a technology class for high school students.

My background is in the Earth sciences, education, and web design. I hold a bachelor's degree in geophysics from the University of Arizona and a master's degree in education from Texas A&M University.

My wife also teaches at Rosedell Elementary, as a fourth-grade teacher. My son, William, currently attends Rosedell as a Kindergartner.
