In the book Basher Five-Two, An American Air Force Pilot named Scot O’Grady, A member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was on a mission called, “Operation Deny Flight,” when an enemy fired a missile aimlessly into the sky near them, and it shot him down from flight. He was able to activate the eject seat and safely get to the ground, but when he got there, he had to leave some extra equipment behind to escape being captured. The only reason the missile hit him was because the enemy eventually noticed their flight path, and, watching them fly overhead, tried to get a good shot without a targeting system so it wouldn’t follow flares or chaffs. Luckily for Scot, he safely made it through the six dark, hard, days of the forest where he had to survive and not be captured. Almost every second, he was at risk of being shot accidentally by hunters, or captured as a POW (Prisoner of War).

I recommend this book because it is a true story about an American Air Force Pilot who had the courage and bravery to try and stay alive. I also would recommend this book because it is sad, happy at some points, and exhilarating, too. Also, if you want a quick-read book that you could finish fast at your school lexile, this would be the one to use.
